Common Uses: Keppra is an anticonvulsant. Exactly how it works is not known, but it may work by slowing abnormal nerve impulses in the brain. How to use: Use Keppra as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. Keppra is usually given as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. If you will be using Keppra at home, a health care provider will teach you how to use it. Be sure you understand how to use Keppra . Follow the procedures you are taught when you use a dose. Contact your health care provider if you have any questions. Do not use Keppra if it contains particles, is cloudy or discolored, or if the vial is cracked or damaged.

Warning and Precautions:
Keppra sometimes causes drowsiness, dizziness, fainting or blurred vision. Please avoid operating a potentially unsafe tasks or mechanisms such as driving a car, until you know your reaction on it. The effect may be worse if you take alcohol or certain medicines such as sleep aids or muscle relaxants. Use Keppra with caution, if you have any problems with heart. It may cause heart attack or stroke. Warn your doctor or dentist that you are taking Keppra before receiving medical help. Before start taking any new medicine even, prescribed without RX or based on herbal components, check it with your doctor. Keppra does not prevent pregnancy; it will not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases. Sometimes Keppra may cause painful erection, ask your doctor if this side effect bother you.

Important safety information:
Keppra may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Keppra with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
Do not suddenly stop taking Keppra or your other seizure medicines. You may have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop Keppra or add a new medicine, your doctor will gradually lower your dose.
Contact your health care provider if your seizures become worse or if you have a new type of seizure.
Lab tests, including kidney function, may be performed while you use Keppra . These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.

Side Effects:
Any of the medicine can cause side effects. If the side effects occur seek medical attention or consult with your doctor for more information. Anyway such common side effects may bother you:  dizziness; drowsiness; irritability; sore throat; tiredness; weakness. Seek medical attention if any of these side effects occur: chest pain, allergic reactions, difficulty swallowing or breathing, fainting, irregular or slow heartbeat, shortness of breath, unusual stomach pain, painful or prolonged erection.
 
Overdose:
Almost any medicine taking in excess doses without consultation with your doctor can cause an overdose. No overdose of Keppra has been reported. If you suspect an overdose contact your emergency room immediately.

Missed Dose: If your doctor gave you strict instructions not to miss dose and if you missed one take the missed dose as soon as you remembered. If it is time for your next dose, skip it and continue taking you medicine regularly. Do not double the medicine. It can cause severe side effects.

Storage conditions:
Keppra should be kept away from heat, direct light, water, moisture at a room temperature (approximately 23 degrees C). The medicine should be kept in a place unreachable for children.
