Common Uses
Azithromycin belongs to a subclass of macrolide antibiotics. It is used for treating mild or moderate infections caused by certain bacteria. Azithromycin is especially effective against such microorganisms as: staphylococcus aureus, haemophilus ducreyi, moraxella catarrhalis, neisseria gonorrhoeae, chlamydia pneumoniae, helicobacter pylori.

How to Take
Before start taking any new medicine please consult with a doctor. The usual dose for adults is 500 mg at the first day of treatment disease as tonsillitis, pneumonia, strep throat, skin infections. This is followed by 250 milligrams once daily for the next 4 days. The dosage for other treatment is prescribed by the doctor.

Warning and Precautions
Azithromycin sometimes cause drowsiness or dizziness. Please avoid operating a potentially unsafe tasks or mechanisms such as driving a car, until you know your reaction on it. Contact to your doctor if you have stomach problems such as diarrhea, painful cramps and bloody stool. The effectiveness of Azithromycin will be only achieved in the case of full course treatment. Do not stop using the medicine if you course is not over, even if you feel well. While long term treatment, Azithromycin may cause a second infection or bacteria may become less sensitive to the medicine. During taking the medicine try to avoid open sun, until you know your reaction on Azithromycin, your skin may become sunburned more easily. Before receiving medical aid tell your doctor that you are using Azithromycin. Do not take Azithromycin if you are taking pimozide.

Missed Dose
If your doctor gave you strict instructions not to miss dose and if you missed one take the missed dose as soon as you remembered. If it is time for your next dose, skip it and continue taking you medicine regularly. Do not double the medicine. It can cause severe side effects.

Overdose
Almost any medicine taking in excess doses without consultation with your doctor can cause an overdose. Mild symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, diarrhea or blood in the urine. If you suspect an overdose contact your emergency room immediately.

Storage
Azithromycin should be stored at room temperature in a container it comes in. Protect from heat, sun light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep away from pets and children.
